My atv is out of warranty. 100 miles. First time in mud I came out of hole and it was grinding then a chunk of mud fell out from front and grinding stopped.
it has happened once since, but can't recall what i was doing when that happened.

On my 500 i could be the living **** out of it and never had any grinding.

Shouldn't the 850 be able to take a little more torture than that i would think

Is there something i can look at to see if there may be something wrong with the 4wd?

I don't really want to take it into the dealership.

 

I rode with a guy on a new 850 the other day, it happened while he was in AWD driving down the road. It stopped after he took it out of AWD.

 

are yuo turning on the adc when you turn on the awd?Ive done that acouple of times and noticed it kinda grinds when you back off

 

The ADC will make some pretty terrible sounds when turned on.

I remember out on a trail riding trip last year a friend was borrowing his uncles Sportsman 500 which had the Hill decent control on it and we thought he broke something because when it got turns on without anyone noticing and when he was slowing down from higher speeds it would make some pretty scary sounds.
Not sure I care for that. On my 850 I have not tried the Hill control yet.

 

If your only 100 miles past the warranty I'm sure any good dealer would cover it .
