Default 99 sportsman 500 will I need a clutch kit to run 28" highlifter outlaws?

Just bought a 99 sportsman 500 all stock just snorkeled intake and clutch and ran all vents to headlight. Just picked up a set of 28" outlaws will I need a clutch kit with these, or will it handle them? Just got a brand new belt and don't wanna smoke it!

You might not "need" a clutch kit but it would help. You could try a new primary spring.

+2 You may notice a loss of power on the bottom end without.

Use you low range in the rough slow going and you should be fine.

as mentioned, you will loose low end and take off w/ out adding a clutch kit. also as mentioned, use low range for sure while in hard area or bad mud as you can easiely smoke your belt. imo

As long as your engagement and RPM are ok Id bump up the secondary spring a little. It will keep you from upshifting too quick with those 28s and will give better back shift for when you hit those mud holes and the tires slow down rapidly.

I am a stickler on this big tire clutching. If you want it right and NOT smoke belts at least lighten up on the secondary setting and go with a primary spring with a little more engagement and not much more top rpm
