I think I messed up. Rincon won't shift gears after oil change, ESP blinking
#1
I was doing an oil change today on my 2003 Rincon 650. I put in 10w40 ATV oil and Lucas heavy duty oil stabilizer. Before I did the oil change the quad was shifting nicely in Auto and ESP mode. After I did oil change I started up the quad and noticed on the dash the part where it says Neutral, drive, and reverse it had ESP blinking. I tried to drive it around a bit and noticed the quad won't shift into any gears driving in Auto and the electronic shifting isn't working. I think the Lucas additive messed things up. I'm hoping draining the oil overnight and putting in just the regular oil will fix the problem. Any advice on this situation would be much appreciated.
thanks,
thanks,

If so you need to get that crap out of there and get the proper weight of oil in there. You might think about running a little lighter oil for a day or two and change it to the proper weight oil.

That's what I thought.
Anyway, if your autoshift operates like my bomb does the solonids can't overcome the thickness of the oil and hang up.
After draining the oil, you might want to add a gallon of diesel oil to the case and slosh it around and drain. (DO NOT START THE QUAD OR EVEN TURN THE ENGINE OVER WITH DIESEL IN THE CRANK CASE.)That additive sticks to things like glue and the diesel will help drain it out.
BTW; the only thing you need to put in your quad is what is recomended by the manufacture. NOTHING ELSE!!
I "think" you will be ok on this deal.
Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

I put a galon of diesel fuel in, swooshed it around a bit (didn't turn it over/try to start it). Drained the diesel fuel. Then I put regular 10w40 oil in it (1 galon) let it swoosh around a bit, again didn't try to start it up or turn over. Drained it again, then put in proper oil and everything went back to normal !! Thanks for the replys folks, I'm glad it all worked out !!

Glad it worked out for you man!!!
Go have fun and ride hard.
BTW, I did mean diesel fuel. It cuts through thing pretty good and can clean off the stickyness of the additive.
