Default Help! 1984 TRX200 is Driving me Nuts!

Hey everybody.

I have a 84 model TRX 200. It was given to me by my father in law. Not many hours on it, but it has been loaned out and is not in the best shape. Can't get rid of it though cause it was a gift... terrible perdicament, if you know what I mean.

Anyway, I had the carb rebuilt last year and the guy told me that I really needed a new one, that there wasn't much left of it. He also told me that he couldn't get a new one and that when I started having problems again I should just shoot the old thing. So, I've been trying to nurse it around. However, now I can get it to start but it idles a little rough. I can get it to run but it has a miss in it. The real boggler is that it won't run at all once I close the choke. But it doesn't flood with the choke open.

Any help would be appreciated. I'd love to be able to use the machine since I have to keep it for the rest of my mortal life...

Thanks.
