anyone have this happen

I took my 06 outlander 800 out on a frozen river this winter, stopped for a break, went to restart it and all it would do was click. Lights still came on pretty bright so I thought maybe it was just not charging. I jumped it off of my buddies quad and it ran fine just wouldn't restart if I shut it off, so I was thinking maybe the battery was bad. Since it was the original battery, I bought a new one. All the quad will do is click like the battery is dead. I jump started it from my truck and it goes crazy on me. It starts up and tries to bounce off the rev limiter and then it shuts itself off. It calms down after a few tries but wont stay running if I remove the jumper cables. Any ideas on what to do to get it back to normal? Fuel pump won't come on unless it is hooked up to my truck. Possible bad ground on the quad?

My Friends Outy did the same thing(the not starting part) it turned out to be his voltage regulator.Although his didn't do the strange idle thing. He had to boost it all the time even though the battery was good.
