First I would check tension on chain and also if front sprocket is ok and doesn't have worn or chipped teeth. I always adjusted to where the slack was about 1/2"-to max of 3/4" slack at the top middle of chain between front and rear sprockets.(since concentric drive came out about 1996-98? ,the front sprocket and swing arm pivot are level with each other which allows tighter chain clearances and suspension doesn't affect chain as much as previous models, DISREGARD the old method of collapsing rear end to adjust chain,WILL be too loose!) Couple other things to check is the chain guide, must be able to move and pivot along with chain or could make noise. Last thing I would jack up rear, turn rear wheels and see if chain has any tight or loose spots as you turn.If it does, could be time for a new chain (shouldn't with 20 hrs as you say?). Plus don't let the chain get dry, keep it well lubricated Hope this helps OPT

I have to agree with OPT. My Mom has the exact same quad, and when the chain had slack, it made a terrible clicking noise as the chain seemed to catch on the plastic guide. After I adjusted the chain, she was happy.
