Question about buying aftermarket carbs
#1
I have a 50CC baja quad i want to buy off a neighbor that sat...i tore down the carb and cleaned it really weel. also cleaned the gas tank and fuel lines....however, that didnt fix the issue....when i take the choke off it dies out like the pilot is clogged...messed with the fuel screw and the idle and cant seem to get it to stay running.....also put a fuel filter on there just in case so cant see how it could be clogged again...it has a 15 pilot jet and a 72.5 main jet...one does 15 seem right or could it being too small be the issue???
thinking i should just get a new carb and see they sell them to fit 50-110 cc bikes...i assume they have jets in them, but how can those jets work with so many engine sizes...do you have to also buy jets for the new carb and experiment to find the right ones? Just trying to get a clue

sure could...had it out many times and each time i was clogged...then i realized it was probably the gas being dirty...so i did all the cleaning and added the filter..cant imagine it being clogged again..about to give up...not much info and jetting these things...im just thinking of going up a few jet sizes and seeing what happens

i don't know for sure if larger jets would start flooding it or not. MWQ may know or some of the the experts on the site. that's just been my experience when cleaning carbs/jets...that the throat of the jet, especially the pilot jet, doesn't get cleaned. it's a small port down it longways. you can barely get anything small down it. but, that's been the most prevalent problem i've seen.

well if that's the case, then all i can suggest is that you read the carb adjustment sticky for the chinese section. mywifesquad, LT80, and others have excellent write ups about these carbs. sorry i couldn't help out any more than that.
.
good luck!
