My first ATV. Polaris 500
#1
Just got a Polaris 500 Explorer. It has been sitting for over a year. I drained all the old gas due to being able to smell that it was indeed old.
Changed the battery, put in new fuel, it will sit and idle all day. When I give it throttle, it boggs down and will barely move.
Changed gas again and added a liquid carb cleaner. Problem still exsist.
Any suggestions?

Welcome to the forum! Carb has to be removed and the jets have to be cleaned, plus advisable to replace the float needle valve assembly while you are there. This happens more often now with the ethanol fuel, degrades a lot faster and will leave a sticky varnish in the carb parts! Also best to check/change oil and filter as it could be gas contaminated. After cleaning if you are not using the machine often, best to install a fuel stabilizer to keep the fuel fresh. Marine brand STABIL is about the best at removing water from ethanol fuel and preserving the fuel.Pour in carb cleaner wont do the job and can harm rubber and soft plastics! OPT
