800 sportsman using oil

Default 800 sportsman using oil

my 09 800 sportsman with 5400 miles is using 1 quart of oil every 100 miles any one else have this problem or have any ideal what it could be.Its running fine and does not feel like it lost any power

It has got to be your rings. How's your air filter? What oil are you running?

wouldt it have lost power or hard to start if rings.Im using mobile 1 oil

Maybe do a compression test and see what that say's .

Your oil rings can be going bad and it will still have good compression and run like new.

The oil has to be bypassing the rings or the valve seals. Or it has to be leaking.

small amount of oil in air cleaner. im using mobile 1 0w40 i let it idle for ten minutes then reved it up and black smoke came out couldnt tell if it was oil or carbon didnt smell like oil do not see any leaks

OK if it is running rich gas gets into your oil and it causes the oil to be very thin. It will use oil if it gets mixed with unburnt gas.
