Default new 01 400 wont start

I just got a 01 400ex and I put a timing chain in it and put it in time so I thought and got it all back together and I went start It and its backfiring out of the carb. Any help would be great.

Are you sure you had the TDC mark showing on the engine case, and the verified the valves were loose (not loaded) and the cam sprocket timing mark was lined up? almost sounds like you are 180 off if you are backfiring out the carb.

I agree that it sounds like it is exactly 180 off.
