Default 2011 Razor over heating problem

My buddy has this Razor and he was out over the weekend several miles from camp. It over heated because a circuit breaker for the cooling fan failed. He drove it until it wouln't run, let it cool down, then went some more. Did this several times. He thinks (hopes) there is a safe mode built in that shuts the engine down before it does damage. Is this the case? He said it starts up and sounds OK since he replaced the $3 part.

The MAJOR safe mode is the area between your buddy's ears! Driving it until it won't run doesn't sound like a "safe mode" to me! Hopefully he didn't score up a cylinder or piston? A little time will tell! OPT
