Default Wheel stud spinning

When I removed my wheels to get the new tires put on I had three studs turn when I tried to remove the right rear lug nuts. I replaced the studs but the new ones spin also, so I can't properly torque the lug nuts. Has anyone had this problem before? If so, what is the fix? Thinking about maybe using lock tight on the studs, but don't know if that will hold them tight enough to torque the nuts...
Anybody have any ideas??? Thanks

I also think the 75 lb/ft of torque listed in the manual is way to much. I broke one stud on the left rear at about 73 lb/ft. Not a fun day changing tires!

sounds like for some reason the hub is bad where the studs go into them. there only pressed in, and they are cast alum. i think. locktite won't hold them from spinning for sure and if the hub is alum. then you can't tack weld the studs to the hubs either. if the studs them self aren't stripped then the hub holes must be. that torque rating is for the alum. rims and it's 12 ft lbs for the steel rims if i remember.

I stripped one out....ended up having to use a cutoff wheel and cut it off to get wheel off. Then pulled the hub and my neighbor put in a new stud (different size, but I wasn't paying and I wasn't particular!) and tack welded it in. My hub was cast and held without issue! Good luck!

I had this happen on my xp as well. It happened on the rear wheel with the brake rotor so I tool the tig welder out and put a small tack on it to hold it. If they are spinning the hub is probably stripped out. If the hub is wrecked already maybe you could try and drill cross wise into the stud hole and tap it for a set screw. Then grind a flat spot on the stud and put it in the hub and tighten the set screw and see if it holds.

I had this happen to an 07 sportsman 500 rear hub. I removed the old stud and welded 4 small beads on the teeth portion of the new wheels stud to make the diameter a little larger and have had no problem since.

Thanks guys. Ended up just buying a new hub and studs. Pretty easy fix and not too expensive.
