What was piston to cylinder clearance after the bore job? Torqued properly?? I've found a lot of shops allowing too much clearance in the past! Should be max about .002 clearance bottom of piston to bottom of cylinder! Either way should be around 130 psi compression on a new top end! Somethings wrong some where! Also did you check/replace the crank seals? OPT

At .005 it's considered technically worn out by the book! Between .006-.008 you will really notice piston slap! Even if it is a broken ring, you are still loosing a lot of time on the engine rebuild if you are able to find the problem! That's why I say a lot of shops do not know the correct tolerances! .002 clearance MAX on a two-stroke except in watercraft where the .005 is considered acceptable in most cases because of the cold water. The 500 Polaris four stroke is even set up tighter! And at .0025 the piston is considered worn out! On the nikasil plated KTM two-strokes, most were set up at .0015 clearance! OPT
