i just bought a 1987 terrapro but it will not shift out of low range. The shift lever moves. Where do i need to start. Thanks new at atv repair.

 

One year atv! Most parts are discontinued.

 

I can't answer your question, but I would guarantee that its design for those parts is going to be shared with the old 225 or 350 Moto-4's from the same period. If you were talking about stuff to do with the PTO, then yeah, 1 year atv and hard to come by, but for what you are looking at, those same parts are likely shared by some of the other models of that time period.

 

It is likely you have a broken cable, or missing connection pin at the shifter linkage on the case, along the right side.

Not Recommened, but i have one that the shifter cable was bypassed, after freezing tight with rust. They somehow literally put a bent wrench on the linkage just below the seat on the right side. High is to the rear, low is in the middle and reverse is all the way forward. Warning, reverse is not connected to the transmission, ie trans in neutral, and reverse still works when the clutch is let out.
