Raptor Fuel Pump???
#1
I have an 06 Raptor 700, I have been having some issues with it stalling out after it gets hot. It then wont start for awhile... When I turn the key on I sometimes hear the fuel pump kick on, but not always. Has anyone had issues with 2006 fuel pump??? I heard Yamaha had issues in 06.
Thanks in advance...

The early 06 700 raptors had an issue with vapor lock. You can easily check the part number on your fuel pump to see if you have the pump with the issues. The new fuel pump now has a 0.8mm vapor bleeder hole and is part number 1S3-13907-02-00, if yours has a different part number you have the bad one. Replace it and it should correct your issue.

Any other pump not ending in -00 is a problem pump. There is a TSB issued by Yamaha on it. The one your buddy has is the one the thread references. Not everyone experienced the issue. Here is a link to one of the raptor sites and it has a scanned copy of the TSB attached to the thread.

Technical service bulletins you have to pay for the repairs so it wouldn't have made a difference in the cost back then either.
As far as a recall most of the time recalls are on saftey issues and if the company can be held liable or not. If their expected liability exceeds the cost to fix all the vehicles affected then they will issue a recall, if it doesn't, they issue it as a TSB, generally.
If it is a vapor lock issue replacing the fuel pump with the later model will correct it. You can check out the two major raptor forums and ebay, alot of people part them out because they can get more for them that way and you can pick up a good used one for a fraction of the cost of a new one.

I heard somewhere with the vapor look, you just have to drill the injector hole a hair larger....Don't know how true it is, nor have i heard it. Maybe someone else has more info. My rappy would foul plugs, which would cause it to pop and backfire..
