1988 Kawasaki Bayou 300 issues
#1
Hello All;
So I bought a 1988 Bayou 300 2x4 and I couldn't start it I got it cheap so I figure I would take it on and see what comes of it.. first appearance it's tries to crank over while jumping the starter as there was no battery in it.. when I can confirm it will run I will buy battery... today I got it ripping the body off for easy access to the workings - I don't seem to have spark so thats issue 1 and I'm not sure what to check or how to check coil? maybe either way parts I seen are expensive
2nd issue I notice is that the Carb's little idle pin seems to be stripped so they had wire wrapped around it (as seeen in photo if you look close).. would that prevent it from running? and if you had same issue is using a locknut solution and good solution as I don't have the cash to dump into alot of new parts.. what I can get away with I rather..
so as mentioned it had good compression as per a friend - when I removed the spark plug it was black? no more good? I didn't have another one on hand to try.. I did however buy a spark plug tester kit and it came with a light plug thing and that didn't light up when I had it connected to the plug that was in the machine and the other end in the plug shoe attempting to crack over by jumping the starter nothing light up? coil?
thanks for anything anyone can offer me

Sorry one more question regarding the carb IF your think the only option to fix the stripped pin thing is too get a new carb lemme ask this I found this on ebay claims to be for my bike or universal atleast - (link at bottom) my question is if I got something like this two things come to mind... will the pin thing fit since it seems to be in a different spot and would the black hoses that come off it line up ???
