Douglas Wheels add 2 Inches
#1
I just received my new Douglas wheels and Titan tires from Ronnies Mail order. Not only was I impressed with the price but I ordered them Wednesday morning and received them Friday afternoon. I mounted them instantly and rode around for a bit. The bike handled a little different but i did not know why. After a short ride i was checking out the wheels when i noticed that the distance between the rim and the struts was much larger. I also noticed that the bike was a little tighter fitting in my van. I tried to measure the rim ofset to compare but i did could not get an acurate reading. My guess is that the current setup adds 2 inches or so. It was pretty cool. Unfortunatly i hit a tree stump that was 4 inches in diameter and about 2 1/2 feet tall going down the trail, flew over the handle bars and rolled my polaris a couple of times. Not only did i but a ding in my new rims but the front left drive shaft poped out of the CV joint and ripped trough the CV boot. I also lost some of the ball bearings from the CV joint. I managed to ride the bike back to the van with the shaft spinning all over the place. Oh well another $300 to $500 at the polaris dealer.

Hey Chris,
Sorry to hear about the crash. It would be cheaper if you fixed it yourself. Sticking the shaft back in and replacing the boot isn't very hard. I have never tried the bearing though.
I have seen some pictures of Scrambler 500's (in red) with Titan's and Douglas rims, they look great!
