Default what to look for when buying a raptor?

Hello, im going to buy a raptor 700r in a few months and i wondered if there is something i should look for? any problems that are usual?

how often do i need to get it serviced ?

and is there any generations i should avoid? (years for example)

it is going to be registered and mostly driven on the road

All years Raptor 700's are good machines ('06-present). Best ATV I have ever owned or ridden, hands down. Yamaha had it all figured out with the mistakes they made on the 660 Raptors and got it right with the 700. The only problem I had with my '07 was the stock aluminum muffler tip rivets kept melting and falling out. I don't know of any major common problems.

I wish we could ride on the road (legally)! I have tried to insure mine with no success. I feel like tax collectors and the license office are missing out on alot of money from ATV's.

you were wrong... they cost (brand new) wait for it ....
130 000 Norwegian kroner = 21 594.69 U.S. dollars

it is insane.

I paid 6800.00 out the door for my 08 SE brand new in May of 2008 but it was on sale. I think normally they are up around 7300 for a standard model. 2013 they now have 2 versions, there is a 700 and a 700r.

The early run on the 06 raptors had some issues with vapor lock, that is the only issue I have heard of. I did break the inner clutch hub on mine a few weeks ago but I was also pushing 80+ HP through the stock clutch. Other than that I have not had any problems with mine.

I paid $3500 for an 07 GYTR edition 3 weeks ago, I am really happy for what I got for the money. It is the best ATV I have ever owned, its my 3rd Raptor, first 2 were 660's. One was bored to 686 and had quite a bit of work done to it and the other was a stock 05 660 with just exhaust. This 700 is leaps and bounds better all the way around.

wow! love the white and grey. I am saving for a raptor. It probably won't be quite that pretty.

I actually found it on craigslist, just a short ad with no picture so I called the guy and when I showed up to look at it I was sold before I even got out of the vehicle. I have added a full set of sedona bazooka tires, power madd handguards, alba pro elite nerfs and a full belly aluminum skid plate in the last week.
