I just heard the fan turn on for the first time while letting my magnum 500 warm up, is it supposed to make the loud whining noise I heard?, what's normal?

Hey Kevin,
Are you kiddin' here in Texas, its so hot... the fans are running when they unpack new quads out of the crates....lolol... just kidding... Mine makes alot of wind noise( or blade noise) but it doesnt sound like a bearing in the electric motor squealin'. If thats the noise youre hearing... and its under warranty, I'd haul it in, and let the MECHANIC..(not the service manager or the ticket writer) hear it.. they should be able to do that with it still sitting in the back of your truck.... and get a quick opinion about it... Good Luck!

When my fan comes on I can hardly hear it over the engine noise. If you are not certain what you are hearing I would have the dealer take a look at it for you. They should not charge anything for an opinion. Good luck.

I had a funny noise in the cooling fan on my magnum 500 and it turned out to be a stiff stick jammed in the shroud that was hitting the fan blades sounded sort of like the old baseball card in the bycycle spokes trick when the fan turned on.

I figured out what it is/was. The shroud is vibrating something bad, when I touch it with any pressure it goes to what I would consider a normal fan noise. I have not figured out how to stop it long term, the two bolts above the radiator that hold it in place are about it as far as I can tell, no clips or anything else. At least the fan itself is not the culprit.

Kevin,
ALRIGHT!!.. you've found the problem, now.. I have the perfect cure for it... MUD... Let me borrow your machine for about a month, and I'll make sure you NEVER hear that noise again! And, I warrant all my work, so if by chance you DO hear it again, just send it back to me and I'll fix it again... And get this, AT NO EXTRA CHARGE!!! (provided you bring it to me with a full tank of fuel!!)..lololol...
Glad to hear its nothing really serious!!
