Default Just bought a Prairie 300, have a couple questions

Like the title says I just bought the atv. It seems to start and idle easily, but it has a little bog at around 1/4 throttle. It seems like it runs good if I ease I I the throttle, but if I push it quicker it bogs down really bad at about 1/4 of the way. It runs good wide open. Also, I noticed when I shut it off I get a little pop/backfire. The other thing I noticed is that my garage smells like gas after its been in there all night.

I think I'm gonna try cleaning the carb and see if that helps. I hope it does and I didn't buy a pos.

Well I think I answered my own question. Took the carb apart and found the pilot jet nearly all the way clogged. The fuel screw was backed out about 4 or 5 turns to compensate for it. It was so far out I surprised it didn't fal out. Got everything cleaned out now and have the screw at 2 turns out. I dont have a manual but hopefully that will get it close. Waiting for the baby to wake up before I fire it.

Wish me luck lol,
Joey

Another update, got it all put back together. Turned the gas on, choked it, and it fired almost instantly. Took it around the block and the bog is gone I think. It did much better than the other night, but I felt it kind of bog down one time. I think I might have some old gas in it though. I'm gonna drain it out and try some fresh stuff.

On another note, I was messing around and found the left from wheel bearing and lower ball joint are toast. How hard is it to replace that ballpoint? Does it have to be pressed out?
