i couldnt figure out how to post anywhere else but here lol, im thinking about buying a 125cc quad, i dont know anything about it except that it is an automatic, when i looked up the vin trying to figure it out it just said its a 2006 made in asia, its blue and it wont go forward.... It will go backwards in reverse but not forward? they said it needs a forward gear but that just dont sound right to me, i cant figure out what the motor is or anything so that i could look up parts, the vin is LXYZCJL0760M07207 I also do not know how to post pics either, the vin was on the back bar behind the seat, the seat says bmx on it if you can help me identify it or find out whats wrong as soon as possible that would be awesome because they need an answer by tomorrow if i wanna buy it or not, thanks to everyone that helps

If you are unfamiliar with chinese quads, and are considering buying a non-running quad from some unknown party, then my advice is "run away".

Transmission troubles are usually serious, and quite probably the seller knows what the problem is and can't fix it. They are probably trying to offload this nightmare on somebody unsuspecting.

Look for used "running" chinese quads, and be sure to consider whether you are up to dealing with chinese quad issues. You will be on your own when problems crop up (and they will crop up). Are you a resourceful individual? Have tools? Do you work on your own cars, or pay someone to do maintenance/repairs?

Caveat Emptor...

I like my chinese quad, and I think my quad has been a great experience. But things that I think are minor will stump somebody else. Just go into this with eyes wide open...

 

i love my chinese quad, but i really want something nicer. i just can't afford anything else now. i got it for a good deal. i have spent quite a bit of time on small things. my swing arm bushings are junk, and they don't make replacements that i can find. im going to have some machined. i've changed tires, added a tube to one that leaked, pulled the carb off and cleaned it, added a headlight to the handlebars, swapped out the brakes, put new bolts everywhere, changed the chain, etc. they were all really cheap fixes, but i didn't have a manual. you've got to be willing to just tear into it. i have some knowledge of what i'm doing, and i like learning as i go. i don't recommend one to anyone who is afraid to turn a wrench.

 

I've never had any luck decoding VIN numbers on chinese quads. Pictures will provide more information for me, specifically some up close of the gearbox. an overall pic of the quad itself will help also
