Default What does switching tie rod ends do for wider tires

I have a Polaris 2005 500 HO I put 9 x 26 tires on the front but they rub on the tie rod ends. I've seen people talk about switching the ends of the tie rods. Looking at them they look the same. Does some one make a off set tie rod end to move it away from the tire. Thanks in advance.

Don't know what others have done, but at the shop if we had rims/tires touching the tie rods we just used longer studs (if needed) and space washers to get enough clearance. Others may have some better suggestions for you.

I think what those who have "switched" the tie rod ends mean that instead of the tie rod being on the top of the tab that comes off the wheel hub (for lack of a better description) you put it on the bottom so it doesn't make contact with the wider tire. I didn't have any luck when I tried to do it on a 2006 Sportsman X2 500 EFI. It ended up binding instead of having a fluid steering movement. I ended up getting longer wheel studs from superatv.com. They are 3/8" longer than stock. Had them pressed in at the dealer. Polaris Extended Wheel Studs #186 : Polaris : Sportsman / ATV : Sportsman Accessories This gave me just enough room to put on 9" tires on the front with a couple thick washers on each wheel stud. Worked for me.
