Water in the oil of 2002 Kawasaki Prarie 650
#1
Hi i just had the head gaskets replaced on my 02 Kawasaki prarie 650 and i gave it a very short test run the other day after the repair and there was alot of white smoke so i pulled off the air filter box and filter and noticed watery oil was blowing up through the manifold into the air filter box and on the top of carburetor so i drained all the oil and there was definetly water in the oil. Also i couldnt see any gaskets in between the cylinder heads it almost looks like its metal to metal, i could only see RTV. Is this how it should look and Does anyone know what could be causing this problem? Thankyou for your time.

Is your engine a water-cooled engine? Mine is air-cooled.
Where is the water coming from?
I'd change the oil immediately! Have you gone bogging lately, or immersed the machine?
Maybe looking into the history will help. But white smoke sounds like she's burning oil. How does it smell?

The 650 was always liquid cooled I thought since it first came out in 2002. http://www.atvreviewnetwork.com/enth...hicleCode=3443
The largest air cooled atv was the short lived 600 Grizzly.
If it was the head gasket there would be greenish anti freeze not water in the oil.

Yep you got a problem. The prairie 650 was water cooled from the start in 02. It sounds like whoever did your work did a shotty job and tried to use sealant instead of a head gasket.... Big No No....
Sounds like its leaking water from the cylinder into the oil because of either bad placement of a head gasket or maybe not even putting one on and trying to use sealant.
If your oil was milky looking it def. had coolant in it no matter the color of the coolant it always looks milky in the oil.
Whatever you do don't run the bike with water in the oil... It won't last long before your looking for another. If you change the oil and it goes away, it could be from the previous water entering the oil and may be ok to run.... If it gets right back milky again then its mixing the coolant and oil so don't run it.
