Conversion to pre mix: necessary changes ?
#1
Hi - can someone please recap what changes are necessary to successfully convert to premix on a polaris 2 stroker (in my case i have a 1994 300 4x4 ). I actually bought mine after it was already setup on premix, but tryin to ensure that all necessary steps were taken.
Thanks

On the 300 the injector line went from the oil pump to the left side of the carb. This inlet needs to be capped off to keep from sucking air. You can leave the oil pump hooked up and still use the split throttle cable if you wish and just drain the oil tank,if it's still there and not blocked off. I'd premix at 40-1 ratio, any richer on oil, say 32-1 is too much on this low compression engine.

Rejetting normally not required.Just always check the spark plug.Should be a tan to medium tan on the electrode. Compression ratio is 6.1/ to 1 according to the manual. Very low compression ratio engine, same as the 250. The piston/cylinder compression reading isn't shown in the old manual I have, but if your showing around 130-140 psi range reading, this is what I've found on most good running engines.

Oil for the 250 engine isn't injected into the carb like the 300 is. It's injected into the base of the cylinder. This little nipple needs to be capped off if you premix whether you remove the oil pump or not so it won't suck air into the cylinder. Item #29 on the parts list.
