polaris carb issue?
#1
I have a 93 Polaris 250 2x4 that has had some serious carb issues. its been pulled 4 times to be cleaned and reset for it to run great for a few minutes then would surge, always had weird probs with it, had to be in drive to go in reverse at first then it decided to be that u had to run it in reverse for a while b4 forward would work, then it went right to running good thought it was fixed and it up n started to only go in reverse. so we unhooked the interrupter and it works fine again... any answers as to wtf is goin on?

Interrupter? If you're talking about disabling the reverse limiter, then leave it disabled as it can cause all sorts of problems. Some machines would die when you placed it in reverse, others would limit in forward range.

now that that was done it ran great for a lil bit anyway... after riding it for the day, she parked it and went back to ride it again a lil bit later the same day and when it started it started the surging, and died when put into reverse and drive. so she left it overnight and tried it the next day, it started and did its surging thing and then outta nowhere it started running normal, so she decided to try reverse and drive and it went but then while driving after about 30 seconds it died. she restarts it and it drove in reverse another minute since it would die in drive... once she got to park it she shut it off and added heat thinking mabe its a water in gas issue even tho there was no chance of water getting in it and said it started runing great again but idled really high till she got on a hill to make it slow its self down and it did, says its ok right at the moment, so now what? this is rediculous i say junk the pos but its her only thing for getting around out in the mountains...

Do a compression check, should be at least 120 psi for it to run right, plus leaking crank seals can do some weird things, high idle, dying, etc. If you haven't rebuilt the carb or at least a new needle and seat, this can cause problems.
