Hey Bill,
right here. Which pads do you need, front or rear?
I'm embarrassed to say, but I forgot to call you. I have some rear ones already cut, and could probably get them machined and in the mail within the week.
Drop me a note at gbox@hawcomfg.com
That is my work address.
Hope to hear from you soon,
Gary

Bill,
Curious, the brass pads were new to your machine in November. They are now worn out.
How many miles do you estimate are on them? 3-4 months of winter riding (better conditions)doesn't seem like a lot of time for a set of pads.
I have been watching the brass pad posts with interest. If the brass pads:
a. provide noticably less braking power
b. have to be replaced at similar intervals as sintered metallic
Where is the advantage? Convince me this is the right thing to do. So far it doesn't look that way.

deej,
concider this factor.Michigan got HAMMERED with record amounts of snowfall in the month of December.Bill has a plow on his ATV.Bill plowed a TON of snow this winter. When Bill plows snow he must use his brakes to stop. When Bill uses his brakes VERY often in the heavy snow,Bills brakes will wear out much quicker than normal.
Now I beleive I went thru 2 pair of front brakes in this same time span, very SOON I will be doing the front brakes again. So there is no comparison between the sintered pads vs the brass pads as far as longivity goes.
The rear brass brakes stop very poorly, but they still stop as good as the sintered metal ones do and out last them at LEAST 2-1.Polaris has a real problem with the rear brakes on the 2000 and prior model ATVs and they know it too.
Now im not yet sold on the front pads yet,I have many ? to ask Gary about there abilities to stop as effectivly as the sintered metal ones.
I liked Garys rears so well im ordering 2 sets of them this time,

Sorry it took me so long to get here Bill -
I have Gary Box's rear pads and could not be happier with the workmanship, and the way they are performing for me. I use my bike for heavy ranch use. Log hauling, carting hundreds of pounds of corn to my year round deer feeders, through the mud and streams and shallow rivers on my place with lots of extra baggage. I bet some of you city folk have never picked up a roll of 12 gauge, two point wire. They're damn heavy. With all this stopping that I do with tons of weight, my stock pads lasted about 2 months. Gary's pads have already done twice that and are still hanging in there.
The only thing that I'm annoyed about is that Gary said he would let me know when I could get pads for the front end. From reading your post Bill, I assume they're available !
It's also nice to support individuals who take pride in what they produce, and work hard to design aftermarket products that are far superior to what the manufacturer threw on there. They were so nice looking that I kept them on my desk at the office for everyone to see and comment on for a few weeks before I installed them.

Dear Hounddog,
Please forgive me. With my main job, and the family, I tend to forget things sometimes. I forgot all about Bill.
Anyway, fronts are available. I'm out of material right now, but its ordered. Cost is the same as the rear ($35.00 per pair plus shipping) Did I send you a picture? I have one if you would like to see them.
Thank you for the good review, I do enjoy working with the machine tools and making something that looks and works good,
