my wife hit some quicksand and the quad started going sinking. i was notified and got there quickly. not wanting to lose a 3 month old new quad, i jumped right in there and put it in 4wd to try to get it out. it eventually came out and i was glad. a close friend of mine was there too. he told me the best way to get out of quicksand was to grab a big stick. so i asked him, "look around, do you see any big sticks in this here riverbed?". he said, "yeah, there's one over there about 30 yds from us." i just shook my head. good day though.

after we got our quads a few years ago, i schooled my kids on helmets. i told'em if i caught them riding without helmets, i'd get rid of their machines. we then went riding, a few minutes later i was leading the pack and clipping along nicely. i turned my head to check on my kids and when i looked back forward, there was a jagged 4" limb hanging low in the trail into my airspace. yep, i hit with my head, it gashed my helmet open and took me to the ground and my quad kept going forward. i laid there a minute wondering if i was dead and realized, nope, i'm alive. my kids came over to me and i jumped up and told'em "see?! that's why you wear helmets". they tried not to laugh, but did muster out a "yes sir". that incident made a lasting impression on them. they still wear their helmets. they are believers.

When my buddy got stuck in a deep water/mud hole I said, "Hold on, I'll pull you out after I get a picture." He was thrilled....

After being egged on by CNCPro and Roadiestar I went up a really steep granite face and barely made it without tipping backwards. They said, "Wow, I didn't think you were going to make it." I try not to listen to their advice anymore. It's safer that way.

When the time comes, and it will, when you try to go through a muddy puddle and get stuck half way in. Just remember, it wasn't that deep before you went through it.
