Talking Picking up my 400EX tomorrow!

What's up every - new to the ATV world. I've ridden all sorts of fun toys in teh past from snowmobiles to dirt bikes and street bikes.. this is my first ATV.

I found a beautiful 2002 400EX right around me and I am picking it up tomorrow.

Motor is all stock, some of the mods are:

FMF Exhaust (not in the side picture below)
Nerf Bars
Renthal handlebar
K&N Filter
DuraBlue extended axles

Maybe some other stuff I forgot about...

Anything you guys recommend that I get for it? I have another $1500 in my budget for mods and such... really excited about this.

New tires and some skidplates. Especially a swingarm skid if it doesn't have one. Nice pickup on the 400. Great place to get started in the atv world.

Well for what it's worth, I called the guy today to confirm the pickup and payment tomorrow and the phone number is disconnected and the ad for the quad is removed... weird? Maybe it was just not meant to be...

I found a sweet '08 TRX450 that I am going to look at tomorrow though... this might be the new winner:

I personally prefer the 400ex but both are great quads, hope you enjoy your first ATV and ride safe.

I have a 400ex. It had sat alot when I got it and had to rebuild rejet carb and do some little stuff here and there but it has been awesome. Just get on it and ride. I have heard nothing but good things about the 400ex. I have never owned a 450 but I have heard they are more temperamental and require more upkeep. Good luck to you

First thing I'd do is change the oil. Not just for that machine, it's something I'd do for anything that had a motor and was used.

Yeah also... are those nerf bars reversed or something?! The rub on the rear tire. I ordered new ones anyways.
