2000 sportsman 500

I recently posted that i just bought a 2000 sportsman 500 and it had been sitting for about 2 years well Ive gone through the entire fuel system replaced jelled hoes tore the carb apart fuel pump everything! It would would run and idle fine but after it ran for about 7 or 8 minutes it would die if I left it alone it would start right back up and repeat the process now it tries to start but thats all it does have had the carb apart several times to clean it any one that has had more experience with can you give me any pointers thanks

Pull the fuel line from the carb and crank the engine over. It should have a steady pulse of fuel. If it does,then still possibly a carb related problem. If flow is weak,then possibly the fuel pump needs replacement. Also on this model make sure the valves are set at .006 and no center(exhaust) cam lobe wear. Plus check the tank vent to make sure it's open and not blocked or kinked causing a vapor locking condition to where it will run then die,then will crank back up when it gets another gulp of air.
