Default 1996 Big Bear 350 4x4 off-idle bog?

Hi all

I recently purchased a '96 Big Bear 350. The machine is in overall good condition and I got a good deal on it. It starts right up, idles fine and runs good with one exception. When I stab the throttle all the way from an idle, it bogs down, backfires a bit and wants to die. It does not do this when I ease into the throttle or only stab it to about 1/4 throttle. I pulled the plug to read it, it looks like a rich condition. Not real bad looking, but definately more black and sooty than it should be. It's not blowing black smoke or anything like that, the off-idle bog is the only manifestation of the condition I have noticed.

My question is this...how should I go about troubleshooting this issue? Is this likely an external carb adjustment setting like idle mixture, or something internal like jetting? The carb was rebuilt just prior to my purchasing the machine.

Thanks....

Mike

Well if the carb was just rebuilt prior to purchase he may have thought the same thing
I would recheck the carb there may have been dirt left in it, check the float height and adjust the the screws back to factory or simi factory and go from there.
But it may just be as simple as the adjustment screws.
