Default 88 350 Foreman Fuel issue

I am having fuel issues. Should i be able to get fuel coming out of the petcock with out a fuel pump? When i have the fuel pump on and have it straight down towards the ground I get no fuel. Not sure if the tank is cogged up or what other kind of issue I could be having.

Is fuel pump running? if pump is running then yes if pump is good it should pump fuel. You said straight at the ground do you mean you have the fuel line off an its pointing at the ground?

I have the fuel line just hanging straight to the ground and no fuel comes out. Also it seems like the fuel pump does not have enough pressure to push the gas up to the carb. The only way I can get any gas to come out of the fuel pump with it running is if I have the tank filled all the way up and it barely comes out.

Could the fuel lines in the tank be an issue? Could the fuel pump be bad? Does the fuel pump pull gas from the tank? I have alot of questions... Thanks.

Yes, fuel lines could be an issue. Check to see if they are kinked. Also check for trash in the tank and if it has one, replace the fuel filter. You might also have a faulty pump or control unit.

How could I clean the fuel lines inside the tank? Also the fuel pump does it suck fuel out of the tank and push it to the carb?

Probably the easiest thing to do is take the fuel tank out and clean it. I had to do that with my machine also. The original tanks are metal, and seem to be more prone to condensation than a plastic tank. I think that you'll be surprised at the amount of debris that will come out. If it were me ...... I wouldn't try to start it before making sure that your fuel supply was clean. It's not doing the 'downstream' components any good, especially the fuel pump. These parts are hard to find nowadays.

I've always run my quad off of the 'reserve' position on the petcock after having to remove the tank. Mine had about a quart of rusty water in the bottom that I wasn't aware of. On reserve, you're running fuel from the bottom of your tank, and there's less chance for moisture and condensation to happen. Always try to keep your tank full, especially in cooler weather.

Good luck! It's an easier job than it sounds ......

Took tank off and emptied and cleaned it out. Does gravity make the fuel come out of the petcock or does the fuel pump suck it out?

It should be 'free-flowing' from the tank to the pump. Is your petcock working properly? Did you get debris in the tank when you cleaned it?

I am not really familiar with this model, but most tanks have a tube or tubes rising from the fuel valve that has a type of fine screen around it that serves as a strainer. If this is what you are referring to, all you need to do is remove the fuel valve and clean the fine screen mesh surrounding it/them. Good luck and keep us posted.

It was the fuel pump. Went to autozone and got a 12 volt fuel filter and it started right up. Got one with a lifetime warranty for 50 bucks. 2.5 to 4 psi.
