Default Need Help

2001 Polaris Ranger 500. Been working on this for 6wks now with no luck. Have changed spark plug, coil, cdi, intake boot, pickup coil, stator and flywheel, still blowing carb off boot when starting. Cam is good, set valves, set timing, cleaned carb, compression good, leakdown test good. Don't know what else to try. Thanks for any help.

Most of the time when a carb gets blown out of the intake manifold the reason is still timing, whether it's an electrical timing problem, the cdi or stator or cam timing. If any of these parts are after market, generic or used, this could be the problem. Seems you've covered all the bases, but the only thing any one can say is to retrace your steps, especially electrical resistance specs from the manual first.

I bought a used stator off a good running machine. I tested and got the same reading as the old stator 20.3ohms. From what I read, the 2001 stator reads 446ohms and the 2002 stator reads 20ohms. Don't know what the deal is here. Thank you.

Problem is on a used stator you could have the wrong one. 2001 models were listed as Series 11 models. Both the 425 engine (2x4) and the 500 4x4 and 6x6 had different stators. This could be confusing on the first Ranger models.Even the break down is confusing on year models as it finally picks up at the 2004 model.Dirt Cheap Yamaha, Honda, Arctic Cat & Polaris OEM Parts & Accessories – Cycle Parts Warehouse Plus here's the two stators on a series 11.Part #9. http://www.cyclepartswarehouse.com/f...r=11&fveh=9379 Could be you have one for the 425 engine? I'd give Ricky stator a call on this. http://www.rickystator.com/catalog/p...page=2&sort=2a
