polaris sportsman 570 or can am outlander 400, 500

Looking to upgrade from my 98 Lakota been a good bike but id like to get a 4 wheel drive. Been looking at the sportsman 570 for a while i know how polaris bikes are, 2 people i ride with have 500s. But im looking at the can ams and thinking maybe. IF i get a can am itd be a 400 or 500. Which would yall recommend price is no issue. I mud ride a lot but also hunt if that helps.

Of the three mentioned the Can-Am 500 is the fastest. They are all good in the mud with the proper tires. Stock tires on the Can-Am's and Polaris' are pretty good all around. As jumbofrank mentioned some have had issues with the frames. The Can-Am frame wasn't as strong as the Polaris, heavier frame. Pre-2013 models in the 500 could be fixed by putting a frame insert in the box frame that Can-Am calls a spar frame. We did a high molecular weight insert in my son's Renegade 500 and I did boxed aluminum in mine even though they had done a brace in the frame where the problems were. (Where the front lower A-arms attached) Good for peace of mind.
Honestly, the Polaris has a more comfortable ride. Used to have a Sportsman X2 500. Traded up to the 650 for more power.
I've been on plenty of rides with people who have the Can-Am 500 like my son's. It's a great engine. Comparable to some 700 class machines with around 46 hp in the most recent year.

The 570 puts out 44HP, and should thump out way more torque that the 46HP V twin outlander. Since these are utility quads, fastest should not really be a factor. The Outty 400 is a nice machine, puts out 30 HP.
It all comes down to the local dealer, whoever offers best support would get my money.

Well when i get back to working (laid off right now) im getting the 570, with it i get more power for less money. With can am ive come to the conclusion that theyre like peterbuilts of the truck world... Youre just paying for a logo.

hi just purchased the 570 sportsman, been arctic cat fan owner over 10 years and made the switch and very happy with the purchase. a big factor when I purchased was where it was built and appears that the polaris is almost 100percent built in the usa as well as the new prostar motor, can am is built in mexico not good for Canada or U.S. jobs as well arctic cat 500 of which I was interested in, was being sourced outside of north America all together and the price was more than the sportsman and did not even come with diff lock, very disappointed in the arctic cat direction and labelling the 500 when it is a 440 fuel injected machine. very impressed with the 570 sportsman, wont be disappointed in this machine my opinion

Easy on those numbers. The 500 Outlander twin is 40hp the same as a XP550, I,m not sure what the 570 is.
My guess is it may have the XP550 beat. The 500 Outlander was only 5hp over the 500 Sportsman due to its higher rpm mostly and actually had less bottom end ft/lb torque.
I,m sure the 570 will hold its own.
The 400 Outlander is a single cylinder mid sized chassis and unlike the Outlander twins with full size chassis is not leaps and bounds ahead of most other 400 class Utilities.
Not really is the same class as the other two.

The Outty 500 puts out 46 hp, they upped it when they put it on the G2 chassis. The 570 lays down 44hp, the 570 is a Polaris Prostar, the 550 is a Fuji.
I have ridden the Outty 400, they are a nice bike. Don't be afraid to give them a look. If you like it, go for it.
