Take a pry bar and see if you can lift the front motor mount or move the top mount. Mount may have separated allowing engine to torque to the right rubbing the prop shaft. Item #15 front and top.Dirt Cheap Yamaha, Honda, Arctic Cat & Polaris OEM Parts & Accessories – Cycle Parts Warehouse

Then check for worn u-joints on the prop shaft at the transmission end and at the front differential end.If worn, the shaft can move slightly and touch the lower water pump bolt.Just pull the shaft back and forth and check for a lot of play. I've had this same thing happen at the shop. Most of the time I've found a separated or soft motor mounts that caused the engine to flex to much, but u- joints could cause this problem also. Ok round three, when I first got the scambler I replace the u- joints. I loosen front an top motor mounts and try to jack up front of engine which it started to lift the whole machine up, The top and side mount does have a little sag to it. I'll replace top an bottom side I got the top mount yesterday got to wait till Monday to buy side. I notice that the yoke has some play in it not much but when in four wheel drive I don't no if it torque up or down??????

Just place it up against a post or tree, have in awd, remove the exhaust shield if you have to so you can see the engine and prop shaft clearly. Then gas it and see what moves, either the engine or the prop shaft. Just my on this. I think the Scrambler was the main one to do this as it seems the prop shaft is closer to the engine than the other models, mainly because of the transmission and the way it's mounted. Engineers should have caught this and allowed a "skosh more room where I need it" as the old Levis commercial said. Problem may be in the shaft itself and not just the yokes if by chance the shaft is bent any at all, plus top motor mounts do show a change in part #'s but don't know if they're the same thickness of the old ones or not which could cause a difference in clearance also. Dirt Cheap Yamaha, Honda, Arctic Cat & Polaris OEM Parts & Accessories – Cycle Parts Warehouse Plus if you're having problems on getting the prop shaft on, air impacting with a dull bit against the yoke to seat it saves knuckles. Seems you're working all around the prop shaft itself by changing just the yoke.If the shaft is torquing up against the water pump cover while under a load and you can't blame it on any engine mount,a new complete prop shaft assembly may solve the problem. Worst case you may be able to mill a small section of the shaft down down with out taking away from it's strength. Would be a lot better if I could see some pics also as I have seen this before, but usually the shaft just barely touched the bottom w/p cover bolt on the ones I've seen.
