Used 4-wheeler help
#1
I'm in the market for my first 4-wheeler, and I am looking for some advice on what to buy. I do not want a ATV/UTV. I already have a Kawasaki Mule and I want to push it into the dump, douse it in diesel, and set it on fire. Or blow it up with 50 lbs of tannerite.
That being said, I'm not going to use it how most people do. I run a hunting ranch in South Texas. Most of the time I will use it to spray brush, check our perimeter fences, and driving when it's muddy so I can get around without tearing up my roads.
Here is what I NEED in a 4 wheeler.
1. A tough suspension. I will be carrying around 150 lbs of herbicide.
2. Good ground clearance. (Won't be in mountainous terrain so I don't care about low center of gravity at all)
3. Reliable machine that will last a long time. (Can't afford a brand new one)
4. Fairly easy to maintain.
5. Liquid cooled.
6. Good 4x4 system (Limited slip is essential)
7. Decent speed (Don't want to drive it at 80 mph, but needs to go faster than 10 mph
What I would like it to have, but not critical.
1. Diesel engine (If Diesel isn't an option, then fuel injection)
3. locking differential/s
I friend of mine has brush spraying business. He said I should look at a used Yamaha Grizzly 660/700 or a Honda Rancher. I'm also curious about a Polaris 4-wheeler. How do these compare based on my criteria?
Thanks in advance for the advice!

arctic cat has a 700 diesel. They are a power house compared to the others. They have a tilt bed as well. They have 2wd/4wd and 4wd locker. The 4wd works good on muddy fields,or snow but it will turn easily. If you turn on the diff lock, its much harder to turn but will pull you out of almost anything. heres a link to the diesel, great machines. ive owned 3 cats and i just bought a 4th 4 days ago. Arctic Cat 2013 Utility TBX/Diesel finding a used one maybe hard to find though. not too many have them since they mainly have one purpose, but the ones that i seen have them, dont wanna get rid f them.

I would appreciate it if you would read my posts completely before posting a reply, and provide a relevant answer.
Can you get a Griz 700 in a diesel?
How many miles/hours can I expect to get out of one?
What year was fuel injection introduced?
How do they compare to a Honda Ranger.
I can't afford a new or a new/used.

Forget the Rancher , its a smaller mid sized chassis, single rear shock and no AWD diff lock or low range and puts out 28hp. With a straight axle your not getting much ground clearance.
Once your in the 500cc class or over you will get a full size chassis, True AWD,IRS,EFI and low range with decent power in most cases.
Those are the 5 options you seem to be looking for. I have great luck with carbs so letting the EFI part will widen you used ATV selection. Like a 660 Grizzly for example.
Most all 4x4 Utility have the same load and towing capacity more or less.

I was interested in fuel injection because of how many problems I've had with my Mule. So, you haven't had many issues with carb engines?

If im not mistaken the 07 grizzly was the first efi grizzly. I might be wrong. But im sure you can expect over 100 miles on a tank. Overall mileage, I would be happy if any atv got over 10,000 miles. Im sure there are plenty that do.
