The stator relay goes click click. Do I replace the relay or is the stator bad ?

 

put jumpers on it first batt may be dead

 

whoa whoa whoa, let's get some terminology straight. it sounds like you mean solenoid/starter relay. the stator is an alternator. brumbear is right, you need an ample amount of volts for the solenoid to work correctly. it is a 12v system, so using jumper cables from your car is acceptable.
