I am looking into get a raptor but first I have to be convinced it is worth giving my moded 250r up over.I have heard it run and LOVE the way it looks. But I have some questions.

Does it wheelie to much?Don't get me wrong I love coming out of corners and lofting the front end or showing off a bit.But On my 250r it gets anoying.Like whenever I am drag racing somebody and I can't keep it down until 3rd.

How does it slide?I asked this under my other post.I got one replying saying not to well.THis kinda bums me out I really love throwing it sideways.

Is the handling all that bad?I am probably not going to race mx on it.Just play race and goof around.Do the shocks bottom easy?

Do 250r shocks fit it?I have expensive white bro's white powers with adjustable piggy back res's.They are also adjustable spring rate and ride height.

Also are the blue one's harder to find?

Thanks for any and all answers.

Hey Ugly?
I just bought a Raptor about two months ago, and love it. I was riding an '86 250R with a 310 cyl., paul turner hi rev pipe, 38 air striker carb., nitros oxide, bla bla bla. My wife still rides an '88 250R that is built the same as mine. The Raptor does wheelie some but it is tolerable, I think the swing arm should be an inch or two longer(later mod), I have not had a problem with the suspension bottoming out and I weigh 235. The best mod I have done so far is to widen the rear 5 in.(used spacers for now) and turned the front wheel around with the off set out (widened it 5in. also)you will need to dismount the tires and have a shop weld up the hole for the valve stem, then redrill on the other side. This made the Raptor wide enough in the rear so you can slid around turns, with out tipping. The shocks will not fit, the shocks on the 250R are about two inches longer.I ride in the dunes most of the time and think the raptor is geared too high, I regeared mine down, I know alot of these guys are talking about how fast the Raptor is, but I would rather have it quicker out of the hole than be able to go mach 3. If you are looking for a great play bike I think you are looking the right direction, I don't miss my 250, about the color, I think Yamaha sent most of the black raptors to the east coast, and the blue to the west coast. I live in California and most of them here are blue (I got black), the dealers around here have long waiting lists, and you get what they get or wait alonger for what you want.
P.S.
Haven't seen a 250R yet with reverse or electric start, that really gets my wife.

If you do decide to get rid of your 250R, run it on eBay. 250R's bring some crazy prices on there. Probably a lot more than you can get on trade. Go check it out............
