Sup, I'm thinking about getting a used '95 Honda XR600r, does anyone know what the top speed of this bike is? And how will it do compared to my friends riding EX's and Raptors, and Banshees and whatnot....Will I smoke em?

well considering i have heard an XR250 has a top speed of 70, i would think the 650 has quite a bit more speed than both the 400EX and the raptor.

At sea level an XR650 will do close to a 100 mph with stock gearing. A fast ATV can sometimes out accelerate a dirt bike in soft dirt because of the additional traction, but otherwise no atv is a match for just about any dirt 250cc or greater in a drag race. The ATV just plain weighs too much. My KTM 500 two stroke dirt bike has 65 horsepower, and weighs 216 pounds, but my Scrambler 400 can keep up with it in a drag race in soft dirt.

Good luck,
Lorrin Lee

An XR 600's top speed is in the mid -uppper 80's. The best thing about an XR 600 is it 's got enough grunt to pull any gearing. You want to go a 100mph put on a smaller rear sprocket.

XR600 and 650Rs are pretty popular out here in the desert. They will smoke anything on wheels!!

On the other hand, I see you live in WV so I assume you are mostly doing trail riding?? I wouldn't pick a big heavy 4-stroke for tight trails.
