Yea my story about my 2000 scram 400 quiting on me I found the reason. The P.O.S burnt out the top end on me. This is the second time this has happend to me within a year the first was a defective pistion same which happens to be the same reason the scram died this time. It just shows that right when you get a polaris to perform the way you want it to it will take a Sh*t on you. So I'm out! When I found out it was blown I went right to my local HONDA dealer and picked up a 2001 400ex. Then I took the P.O.Scram to the polaris dealer and sold it to them for two grand. So I urge you people to get out while you still can without loosing big like I did, and don't pour alot of cash into a P.O.S that will let you down when you need it.

I can understand that you are torqued for having it go twice in a year, but that is hardly the norm. Best of luck with your 400ex.

Sorry you had bad luck twice but If you are gonna mod a 2stroke, you should really replace the polaris piston, RCR, HPD, and HotSeat will all tell you that polaris pistons are a piece of cr*p. Best of luck on your new Honda, Make sure you go tho the honda board and tell them what peice of cr*p Polaris makes

IT PISSES ME OFF WHEN I READ STUFF LIKE THIS!!!!

My friend put 3 pistons in his Scrambler in one year before the dealership found out that the timing was off and burning up his piston.

I would not be surprized if the timing was why your's blew up twice.

As a diesel engine mechanic, I know that timing is everything to an engine. Why are some choosing not to look at it when they rebuild the engine?

I agree that Polaris has poor pistons and will not stand behind their rebuilds. Good luck with your engines in the furture.

I know what you are saying. I owned a 97 H.P.D. scrambler It had everything done to it and I melted it twice in a year. the more you mod these machine the more they break and vibrate. So I trade up to a 660R I have photos of it you can E ail me at jeffrey714@webtv.net and I'll send you them. I lost big when I sold But I was tird of putting money in it.

Shakeyjake, that would tick anyone off. Just out of curiosity were both these stock Polaris pistons or did you fry a Wiseco too?

I keep hearing the stock Polaris pistons don't hold up well, particularly in a modded engine. Did they put in a Wiesco when they rebuilt it, or stick with the standard? Most places that mod engines (HPD, RCR) don't recommend the stock piston in a modded engine.
