Default Rear Gear Case oil change

Hello... I have a 2003 sportsman 700 twin, Just curious how other people change rear gear case fluid. It's kinda difficult to get something in there, I insert a small hose in the fill hole then I attach a bigger hose to the small hose and put the end of the gear oil bottle in the big hose and squeeze, it take forever. there must be a easier way. Any tips would be appreciated.

Basically the way I had to do. Couldn't find a funnel small enough to work with out spilling fluid. I kept the old style bottles with the nipple caps and used a length of clear tubing.Takes a little time, but at least you know the job's done right.

I dont know if its any different ! but i just did the change on my 2004 400 with a small funnel i have with about a 6 or 7 inch stem.It fit right in the hole.I think i picked it up at autozone.I was able to just keep filling it with the QT bottle wth the nipple screwed on it

The rear diff fill plug on the 700 is small and hard to get to.Your model has the tranny/rear drive all in one case on the 400. Plus the 700 holds Angle drive fluid or 80/90,etc. Hard enough to get a small tube in there. Item 5 is the fill plug. Well got all the fluids changed last night, yea OPT I don't think im going to find a funnel that small. Going to replace the battery, the battery never let me down yet but it is 8 years old (polaris batt) I keep it on a tender, a new polaris batt is $ 170 and they want $ 130 for an after market.been hearing some bad reviews on the polaris batt lately.I can't complain about the polaris batt that I had. OPT what do you think, has anything changed.

I can see now that fill plug is not easy to get to.Of course the only machine i know is the 2004 sportsman.I just got a new battery for it at napa for 45 bucks. One you have to fill with acid and charge. Its rated at 170CCA.Than again your type and size battery must be a lot more money?

Polaris oem batteries are made by Yuasa, that's why it lasted that long. You can take a chance on wally world ever start batteries, but I never had much luck with them. Had stacks and stacks of old core batteries at the shop and wally world Ever Start were the most along with other no name batteries.Imo Yuasa and Interstate are the best, last the longest, but cost the most other than going spastic and buying an Optima,etc.30 amp batteries aren't cheap, but seem to run around 80 bucks up online, but doesn't include shipping. You might try a local Batteries+,etc and price check.Plus here's a couple online. http://powersportbatteries.com/polar...t-battery.html http://www.azbatterystore.com/ATV-4010630_Polaris.html

On my 850 I ran a clear hose down from the rear rack (a friend drilled an access hole)
into the fill hole with predetermined fluid spec.
Remove rear wheel and pour.

I have a 2004 600 twin and bought 2 small oil cans with a trigger pump, one for the front and one for the rear. I applied a label on each one with the correct amount and type of oil to use. I think they are 4 ounce capacity so you have to refill them more than once but it just takes a few minutes of pulling the trigger to fill up the cases. The spout fits right in the the fill hole and there is no spilled oil to clean up. For the transmission I found a piece of vinyl tubing, about 12" long, that fits in the fill hole just snugly and hook it to a funnel on the other end.
