Hi, I own a 2003 Honda 250ex Sportrax, and I recently began to look for brand new exhaust systems. I am thinking between FMF, HMF, or Yoshimura. If you could give me any tips on which one I should get it would be very helpful. I am also interested to hear if there is a brand that you think is better. Anything will help, thanks.

 

All are good systems in general. I am not sure who has the best hp and torque curves for your particular machine. I would ask you consider noise level as well. Definitely go for the quiet core when available.

 

I was actually looking for a more loud exhaust

 

Why? Over the years I have seen several places close in part due to noise complaints. Many places I go to now have dB restrictions that are fairly strict. Even a lot of race series are down to 92 or 94dB these days. You don't need to run 100+to make top power anymore. I have been there, the novelty wears off quickly when you get a headache every time you ride. Luckily all your top choices have decent sound suppression options.

 

Okay thank you, I just thought it wouls sound cooler if it was loud. I don't usually race though. Which one do you think would be the best for trail riding?

 

Loud is cool for about 5 minutes. I had a quad with a loud exhaust on it before. Eventually put the stock one back on. Quieter is the way to go. Nobody will ever tell you your stock exhaust is too loud. Enjoy your 250ex as it is and save your money. My 2 cents worth.

 

I know a lot of guys who have the HMF. I suggest that you check some Youtube vids for you to have an idea about the sound of diff exhausts.
