Default 1985 Honda TRX250 (Utility)

Anybody know what the top speed of this thing is? On another note, it burns oil..... Its a 4 stroke, so I know it shouldnt. I changed the oil and filter and now it uses a little oil. Im tired of spending $10 a quart for wet clutch oil. Im thinking of selling, so how much would this be worth? new front tires, battery, aftermarket fuel tank, and heavy duty seat cover.

The 250 is rather an underrated model. It had a smaller version of that great 300 engine which Honda built their reputation for reliable Quads on. I have never explored top speed, they are rather heavy for a 250, I suspect the 300 would be lighter.

Here in the UK they are not worth much. Why not get the engine's top end checked over? There will be labour costs, but it could just need new rings and a head gasket set, well under $100 for parts. At most a re-bore and over-sized piston.

Yes, for an 85, probably needs a top end or valve seats. Top speed is probably somewhere around 50 I would fuess, been a long time since I have ridden one of these.

Also, no need to run the expensive oils, most of the diesel oils meet the requirements for.motorcycle clutches just fine, and you can get them much cheaper. I have been using Shell Rotella T for years in my sport quads.
