86 LT250r w/ 89 swingarm ?'s

Well when I picked up my quad the PO said it had a horrible vibration they couldn't diagnose, well in tearing down the engine for a new top end gasket kit and new casing gaskets I noticed the motor had some play left to right on the swingarm pivot bolt...now when you swap swingarms are you supposed to keep the hardware for your year or do you swap out the bearings for the year swingarm your putting in?? I think they got it wrong and that's where the vibration is coming from, prob why I got it next to nothing be I felt like the motor was gonna explode outta the frame!

I am not sure you can even switch 85/6 to an 87+ swingarm. The motors are totally different, frames are different as well. What type of chain adjuster does it have? Eccentric or the boxed swingarm?

I've check the frame and it's an 85-86, motor has no power valve and the exhaust comes out the side slightly not straight out, the swingarm was Full Floater on it and is boxed, plus it's got the 5 lug hubs not the 4 lug, I'm thinking they forgot a couple spacers or something

All the swingarm have full floater on the side. The 87 plus have a tendency to strip the four bolts on top of the arm that hold the chain adjusters tight. That may be you clunking. I don't think the swingarms are interchangeable. It might be kludged together causing issues also.
