Brent,
It sounds like you may have some dirt in the needle valve or seat or you need to replace the needle valve. The needle valve I'm referring to is the one the float pushes against and closes off the gas flow when the carb is full. You will need to take your carb off and remove the float bowl and either clean or replace this needle.

I'm not sure why Polaris dropped the 425 Magnum. I ride with a guy who owns one and it has been very reliable. It requires some extra maintenance due to the chains driving front and rear. This weekend he hooked up to a Yamaha Grizzly to see who could pull whom. They both just sat there and spun, they couldn't move each other an inch.

I understand the Expedition is using the 425 Magnum (at least that is what Dirt Wheels claims) engine adapted to the new transmission.

Scott.

I have a 96 425 Magnum 4X4 with less than 1000 miles on it. I am very happy with it. I have just one problem. When I leave the gas on overnight, it slowly leaks gas out the carb overflow. it has done this for some time. I simply shut the gas off after I finish riding it for the day.

Does anyone have a suggestion to fix this? I don't think it is trash in the bowl. Is this a common problem for this carb? Does anyone know of any other potential problems with this model? Was the 4x4 chain drive pretty reliable? Is this engine similar to the 500 with a
different bore and stroke? Is the engine the same as the new
Expedition 425 with the obvious differences required for a manual transmission and shaft drive.

If you can't tell, I am a little curious as to why they did away with the 425 powerplant Magnum and then came back with a 425 Expedition. I hope that it is because it is a powerful, reliable motor. I know it is powerful.

I have ridden manual shift Hondas for the last 15 years and never thought a big heavy 4x4 auto could ever be so much fun and ride so smooth. I bought it at a good price and it was mint. Otherwise, I would not have considered anything but a Honda. I hope that it can be near Honda reliable. Thanks for any information that might be
helpful.

Brent
