The Magnum 425 and Sportsman 500 shared the same basic BST34 carb until 2000. Main difference was jetting. The Scrambler 500 and 2001 Sportsman 500 used the larger BST40 carb. As far as the fuel pump, where it's mounted is a good place. Away from the heat of the engine. Some early models had them mounted under the front panel close to the electronics. Later models settled on mounting them under the left front fender. Can't really find kits that fit all models. Here's a kit listed for the 96-98 Magnum 425. http://www.jetsrus.com/individual_parts/sh_03_416.html but shows a 155 main jet. The parts break down lists a 140 jet for the Magnum.Worth it just to get the kit and use your main jet as an oem needle and seat would cost as much as the lit. Plus here's one from ebay.Would fit either the 425 or 500 but again the main jet size would probably be different. Most after market kits just lump the 425 and 500 into one common kit.http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-SHINDY-CARBURETOR-CARB-REBUILD-REPAIR-KIT-FOR-POLARIS-425-MAGNUM-1995-98-/281714621494?hash=item41977ffc36&vxp=mtr
