Questions for Supertrapp IDS 2 owners
#1
I would like to know everyones opinion of the Supertrapp IDS 2 exhaust system. I am considering buying one for my Rancher because the FMF Megamax 2 I currently have sucks and I think it is a piece of junk, don't ever buy one. I would like to know if the Supertrapp provides a good performance gain and how loud is it compared to the FMF, also how well does it fit on the Rancher. If any of you that are thinking about buying the FMF, don't. Mine doesn't fit worth a crap, the spark arrestor plate has already cracked after only about 2 rides, the disks don't compress evenly at all, and on top of all that it melted some of the plastic on the side of my tool box, needless to say I am not happy.

Your story sounds just like mine. Bad fit being the biggest problem. I love the Supertrapp. It fits very well, even informs you you may need a new muffler gasket (I did). Instructions are more thorough. Everything is tight, discs are much better quality and compress evenly. Sound is better also. Not as loud (I felt the FMF was raspy sounding), but a nice throaty tone to it. I'm currently running 12 discs, but still experimenting with that and the jetting. I originally had a dynojet 116 main, and needle on second clip, but felt it might be a bit lean. I'm now running a 120 main, 3rd clip, and will lean it out as necessary. Better too rich to start than too lean. This is taking into account a I live at 6500 ft., and not sea level.

I like my Supertrapp but didnt at first. I installed my supertrapp first before the K&N filter and jet and couldnt tell any gain at all. Now with the other mods I can tell a difference because I took the superrapp off and put the stock back on. It is noticably faster with the supertrapp now. I did have fitting problems with the stock metal heat shield fitting the s-pipe. My supertrapp inner core doesnt line up with the exit hole and I think this hurts mine. I have seen two more supertrapps and they were off line a little but not near as bad as mine. Hopefully yours will line up. Later all.

It is part number 18391-ML8-000 and should be around $8.00. Your local shop should have them in stock since most Honda ATVs and Honda dirt bikes share this part. I know the XR250 dirt bike uses this. You can try to get the old gasket off, but mine and every other one I have seen was trashed once removed.
