MY atv has been giving me some problems of late. I just had a serious of work done on it from the dealer and it was fine. Now the problem is it wont start. Cranks over fine plenty of battery power but just wont start. I did notice that I don't hear the pump prime when I turn the key to the on position. If I continue to try to start it sometimes the pump primes for a second and then it starts and shuts off. I now on this model the correct fix is replacing the tank and pump as one assembly. But I have seen you can remove the pump and just service the pump. Any suggestions Thanks.

Best to have fuel pressure checked to see if it is a fuel pump problem first. Must hold around 39psi with no appreciable drop. If pressure is low or drops pressure, there are plenty of pumps for these now for around 20 bucks or less.Intank Fuel Pump Fits Polaris Sportsman 500 EFI 2006 2007 2008 2009 2010 | eBay

Well I checked the fuel pressure and I have none. I replaced the pump and fuel filter and still have nothing. I checked to see if I have 12v going to the pump and I don't. Any advice what to check next.

Check the fuse block and fuses along with power at the two relays.I believe the right relay is for the fuel pump. Relays weren't really a problem that we had,but the fuse blocks were. Pull the block up and check for any shorts or connectors that may have shorted. It's a Delphi brand fuse block and plenty of them are on ebay if the insides of yours is corroded. Sorry.. Thought it read 2006 800 efi.. Gotta get new glasses I guess.. On this one I'd suspect a pdm module if it's not getting power to the fuel pump as it contains all the solid state circuit breakers, relays, etc. These were prone to have moisture, heat problems simply by where they were located, right up front close to the radiator. Item#11.Dirt Cheap Yamaha, Polaris, Suzuki & Kawasaki OEM Parts & Accessories – Cycle Parts Warehouse Before I threw good money(200 + bucks) at one of these I'd get a 5 buck manual first to perform all the trouble shooting checks on the pdm that are in the manual. May end up being something simple as a wiring short rather than this expensive module. 2006 Polaris Sportsman 500 EFI Service Manual PDF Download
