Default idiling problems

i have a 2000 polaris trailboss 325 i rebuilt the carb to fix a gas leak coming out of the overflow on the bottom of the bowl. i fxed that problem but now it doesent idle right. it idles fine at first but after you tap the gas it will idle really high for 30 seconds or so. it idles high enough that when i put it in drive or reverse the atv will pull itself around 10mph without even touching the gas. any sugestions?

First off you might want to look at the fuel section on the manual to see if you've overlooked something during the rebuild.https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=...U2gGlaHJWSIlbA Plus check for any leaks or cracks around the intake manifold that could be sucking air causing a lean condition and high idle. Don't know if you replace/messed with the block off plug and fuel mixture setting or not.Normally these were set lean from the factory and I've found several at only 1/2 turn out and one that was closed completely. This screw should be turned out a minimum of 2 turns out.

I couldn't get anything from the diagram but I was wondering there were some parts in the carb rebuild kit we didn't install cause we weren't sure what they are or where they was located.. Could you clarify?

Here are the parts we didn't install

Make sure first that you have 1/8" slack at the thumb throttle and that it's not tight. If the throttle cable is too tight, sounds like what could be happening. Especially if the idle adjuster has no effect on running,it idles ok when fuel is loading up from the choke, but idles high when choke is off. Don't confuse the fuel screw(under the block off plug) with the idle adjuster that hangs down from the carb. Plus make sure the fuel screw is 2 turns out from a lightly seated position.

Air jet located under the diaphragm slide. Not necessary to replace this. Jet needle..all depends on wear on the old one.. Can usually get by without it. Main jet washer, not needed as long as you have the old one under the main jet.. E clip for the jet needle, again not needed.. Washer,o-ring and spring for fuel screw.Best if you replaced them, but not critical.

ok i just now noticed my throttle doesnt have any slack in it at all. its not sticking but as soon as you touch the throttle the cable moves, i removed the cover on the carb to make sure. so how would i adjust the throttle on one of these quads.

1/8" slack only at the thumb throttle. The adjuster is on the cable down from the controls. After slack adjustment then you can fine tune the carb idle.
