Default What Did I Do Wrong?

2001 Polaris Sportsman 500 HO.

I was having major no starting issues. I replaced the Stator, Bendix and Recoil Assembly. The good news is it starts and runs fine. The problem now is it doesn't drive. I can have it in gear and driving but then it comes to a stop even with RPMS up. What did I do?

Sounds like you burnt a belt or have clutch problems or a little of both. Just pull the clutch cover and go from there.

Sorry couldn't help it..

Look at these post as the 2000 through 2002 were the worst on clutches if the belt isn't the only problem.http://api.viglink.com/api/click?for...st%20Community

I got the cover off. About 2 cups of black fluid came out. What should I be looking for?

Usually item#22 is the culprit or even the outer clutch seal #10. Have to pull the clutch to get to this seal. Usually sticks can puncture this engine to clutch seal and allows a lot of water to mix with clutch dust.. Sounds like the cause of you slipping,hopefully.. Before I take it down I was wondering if I can see the clutch slipping with it in gear and running?
