Should I trade my 300ex for a two stroke?
#1
So I have my 300ex,I love it,its quick, and in pretty good condition.I've never owned a quad before, but in all reality I want my quad to be fast.I'm satisfied with the speed my quad has as of now,but I plan on building it if I keep it.I like trail riding, field, and street riding. But as I said speed and acceleration is definite at the top of my list. But I don't want to sacrifice my trailability too much for that.
Should I trade for a 2 stroke like a blaster?Or just build my 300ex?Or keep it stock, save a little cash and trade up into a 400ex and build that?

I had a pretty nice trail built 300ex. It was a quick little quad, very easy to man handle and throw around. I sold it and bought a 400ex. The 400 was hands down the best trail quad I have ever owned. All of the 400cc sport quads make great trail quads. My 400 wasnt the fastest due to the gearing but it was a trail killer, totally unstoppable for a 2wd. Save your $ and get a 400ex or ltz400 dont bother modding the 300.

Well said.So if I do stay with 4strokes as my primary quad, upgrade from the 300ex before I build..I figured I'd hear that, just wanted to see weather or not the 300 was worth building.
But as far as a two stroke quad now?

You can spend quite a bit of money making on a 300ex just to make it as fast as a stock 400ex. A blaster is tiny. Unless you're 5'6" or under you will be cramped. If you want something relatively cheap and fast, get a Raptor 660. Its close to same price as a 400ex and quite a bit more power. Could maybe find something like this 2003 Raptor 660.
